Many people continue to face civil and human right violations. As a result, many nonprofit organizations have been formed to advocate for all these rights.
Also, successful individuals are spending significant funds to ensure they help those oppressed by injustice acts. Most of these organizations mostly focus on immigrants’ rights as well as protecting civil rights of individuals.
The Coalition of Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA) is one of the groups that specialize in fighting for immigrants’ rights. This group was formed in 1986, and it has been active in trying to build a society that is inclusive.
Most societies exclude immigrants in almost everything, but the organization has been instrumental in California in the realization of the right for free human participation in democracy. The group also works hard to ensure that they change public opinions while changing policy for full human, civil and immigrants’ rights.
ACLU Immigrants’ Rights Project is another organization that works hard to protect immigrants’ human and civil rights. The group employs outreach, advocacy as well as litigation in achieving its objectives. The project carries out a litigation program through the supreme court and District Courts.
Its founders are determined to achieve equal justice for all. They challenge the legality of some laws that tend to block immigrants from accessing judicial process. The project is well funded and has a team of experts that are determined to see human rights of immigrants are realized. Read more: Phoenix New Times | Wikipedia and Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund
The third organization that has been very active worldwide is the Advocates for Human Rights. The organization has been in the front line in fighting for human rights. The organization is well supported by volunteers, staff as well as partners to ensure they implement international standards of human rights as they reinforce the rule of law.
The group has been very instrumental in changing many lives of vulnerable groups like immigrants, children, and women.
Lacey & Larkin Frontera Fund has also been instrumental when it comes to funding organizations that advocate for immigrants’ rights. The fund was launched by Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin; co-founders of Phoenix New Times.
The two-media executive was illegally arrested for reporting misdeeds in Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s office. They were released within 24 hours and later filed a case challenging the illegal arrest.
They won the case and received $3.7 million settlement money from Maricopa County. They founded Lacey & Larkin Frontera Fund to benefit Hispanic Community as well as funding Non-profit organizations advocating for immigrants’ rights.
The funds will also support groups that advocate for freedom of speech and civic participation across Arizona.
